Apple Introduces Liquid Glass UI in iOS, macOS

Apple Introduces ‘Liquid Glass’ UI in iOS at WWDC 2025, Apple officially unveiled its new cross-platform design system called Liquid Glass, set to debut across iOS 26, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS this fall. The Liquid Glass UI is Apple’s most significant aesthetic shift in years, introducing a sleek, transparent interface where icons, files, tabs, and control elements take on a fluid, glass-like appearance.
Apple says Liquid Glass improves user experience through context-sensitive controls that disappear when not in use and automatic grouping of similar elements—ushering in a more seamless and adaptive interface. Apple described the UI as “fluid” repeatedly during its keynote, emphasizing the design’s cohesive and immersive feel.
However, despite the buzz around the design, critics noted a lack of significant AI advancements compared to competitors. Apple’s restrained approach to AI led to some investor disappointment, with shares dropping 1.2% by market close.
Still, Apple Intelligence—a new umbrella for its AI features—includes developer tools to integrate machine learning into third-party apps. Key features like on-screen visual search, live translation for messages and calls, and AI-powered calendar suggestions aim to bring smarter interactions without compromising user privacy.
The Liquid Glass interface will roll out this fall alongside iPhone 16 and iOS 26.
